Stop Blaming the Swing Replay Posted

The interview with Legendary Perry Husband is now posted under Live Presentations. It will be available for a limited time. Lot of "use it right now" advice.

⚾ Summary Perry’s central message is that many swings that look mechanically bad are actually the result of being poorly timed. Effective Velocity (EV) treats a pitch’s perceived speed as dependent on location: inside pitches require contact farther out front and effectively play faster, while outside pitches can be contacted deeper and effectively play slower. Hitters therefore need to prepare for both pitch speed and location, not simply the radar-gun number.

🎯 Key hitting principles Build sound mechanics first—what Husband calls “graduating swing school”—then shift substantial attention toward timing and pitch recognition. Use a consistent load, recognize the pitch while still able to adjust, and then “go.” Husband describes this separation as the “AND” or “right now” concept. Hunt the fastest likely pitch/location first, then adjust to slower pitches. Watching warmups and pitcher tendencies can help establish that expectation. Keep the barrel in line with the pitch for as long as possible. Husband argues this creates a larger timing margin than intentionally swinging upward to produce fly balls. Evaluate at-bats with three questions: Did you get the right pitch? Were you 100% on time? Did you make your A swing?
