First Base Hall

Welcome to First Base — Here's How to Use This Hall

Hey, welcome to First Base. This is where the foundation gets built.

If you're here, you're starting to understand something that most hitters never figure out — that timing isn't a result of good mechanics, it's the other way around. Everything in First Base is built around that idea.

This hall is your home base while you're working through the First Base course. Ask questions here, post your progress, share what's clicking and what isn't. The more you put in, the more you'll get out of it.

What First Base is all about

You're here to lock in on three things — intent, body movement, and timing. You'll learn the 7 Functional Skills of the physical swing and you'll start applying the Effective Velocity timing technique on every pitch, every session. When your questions start centering around feel and swing movement, you'll know it's working.

Your Milestones

Check these off as you work through the course. Be honest with yourself.

• Do I understand the unifying principle of Body Timing with Pitch Timing?
• Do I understand what it means to be a 100% on time / 100% efficient hitter?
• Am I controlling intent — what, when, where, emotions, thoughts, feelings, and imagination — when I'm hitting?
• Am I measuring and tracking my progress?
• Am I working on the 7 Functional Skills of hitting?

Your Action Items

These are your marching orders while you're at First Base. Work through them in order.

1. Watch the Effective Velocity "Right Now" Intro Video
2. Conduct and video your Initial Swing Assessment
3. Practice the timing technique every hitting session
4. Watch the Being 100/100 Hitter video
5. Review the 7 Physical Characteristics of a Swing Overview video
6. Review each of the 7 Physical Characteristics of a Swing individual videos
7. Train two characteristics per session
8. Take a photo and post it here
9. Comment on someone else's post

That last one matters. The players who move through this the fastest aren't just consuming content — they're showing up in the hall, asking questions, and engaging with what other members are posting. Do the work and show up here. Both.

Let's get after it.
